Veteran actress Neena Gupta has finally broke her silence over pregnancy rumours. Recently, the actress dismissed all such speculations and firmly clarified that she is not expecting a child at 66. Addressing the social media chatter with humorous signature tone, she told Bollywood Hungama, “This is all I need, a real-life Badhaai Ho.”

She stressed that the gossip about her pregnancy grew because of the saree fabric opted for the evening function. Using a reference to one of her most popular films Badhaai Ho, Neena reacted, “There is no Badhaai Ho. I am not pregnant. The truth is that the saree material was thick, which made me look bulky at the event,” she explained and then added, “But I must say, I love all this speculation about my pregnancy at my age. It shows we are evolving as a nation.”

It all started following Neena Gupta’s recent public appearance at Vijay Deverakonda and Rashmika Mandanna’s wedding reception in Hyderabad. The actress looked stunning in an ivory saree designed by her daughter Masaba Gupta. Taking to Instagram, she wrote, “It was so heart-warming to meet you both and your families, so warm, so respectful, so beautiful. God bless you both. Love you..”
However more than her heartwarming wishes, eagle-eyed netizens caught that she was covering her stomach while posing for the pictures. Many speculated that she might be pregnant and was protecting her baby bump. A slight bump beneath her saree caught attention online, with users questioning about Neena’s possible pregnancy at her age.

In the 1980s, Neena Gupta’s relationship with former West Indies cricketer Viv Richards was widely discussed. At that time, conversations around relationships outside marriage were widely opposed, still Gupta chose to continue with her pregnancy.
She gave birth to her daughter, fashion designer Masaba Gupta, and raised her largely on her own. She later revealed in interviews that the journey of single motherhood was quite challenging, as she suffered both personally and professionally.
Later in life, Neena’s personal life changed its course when she married Delhi-based chartered accountant Vivek Mehra in 2008.
