The ongoing controversy surrounding Peddi has taken a surprising turn after fan clubs of Janhvi Kapoor have circulated alleged private chats in which she raised concerns about certain shots being filmed in Peddi. The unverified chats, which went viral online shortly after director Buchi Babu Sanon issued an apology statement over backlash of the film’s portrayal of women, suggest that Janhvi may have been uncomfortable about certain sequences during the production itself.
What did Janhvi Kapoor say during the filming of Peddi?
In one of the most talked-about screenshots, the actor allegedly mentioned, “I told him no b**b and waist shots (sic).” The unverified messages claim that Ram Charan supported Janhvi after she raised objections to certain scenes. “And Ram sir is so sweet. He also yelled at him and said, ‘You will not take such angles of her ever again.’ So he got upset (sic),” the message read.
The alleged conversation indicates that issues might have been raised internally during filming, with messages indirectly being referred to director Buchi Babu Sana. In another message, Janhvi suggested that the issue is a part of a broader spectrum within the industry, writing, “It keeps happening in the south (sic).”

Why was Janhvi Kapoor frustrated?
The screenshots also reflected a similar situation when faced by Kiara Advani in Game Changer. Reacting to the comparison, Janhvi allegedly wrote, “No, in this, what they were taking was worse. But Ram sir said no way, stop (sic).”
She also discussed the questions of consent, expressing her frustration over attempts to communicate her discomfort, writing, “You have no idea what I’ve been dealing with. Trying to make them understand (sic).”
What has the Peddi director, Buchi Babu Sana, decided?
Meanwhile, the filmmaker has promised to make changes to the controversial scenes in the film. Buchi Babu Sana wrote on X, “As a filmmaker, I believe cinema should entertain, inspire, and connect with audiences. It should never make anyone feel uncomfortable or disrespected. We have heard the feedback regarding certain scenes in Peddi and have taken it seriously. I have always had immense respect for women, both on and off screen, and it was never our intention to objectify or disrespect any female character.”
However, the authenticity of the chats has not been independently verified. Janhvi Kapoor or her team is yet to make an official statement regarding the circulated screenshots.
