Salman Khan launches relief drive for Assam flood victims, provides food and essential supplies

Through his charitable organisation, Being Human, along with the Salman Khan Fan Club (SKFC), the actor has joined hands to launch relief efforts for people in some of the worst-hit areas of the state.

People in Assam have been devastated by floods, with survival becoming extremely difficult. Amid the crisis, celebrities from B-town have come forward to help the flood victims, and among them is none other than Bollywood’s Bhaijaan, Salman Khan. Through his charitable organisation, Being Human, along with the Salman Khan Fan Club (SKFC), the actor has joined hands to launch relief efforts for people in some of the worst-hit areas of the state.

Salman Khan launches relief initiative for people in Assam

Reports claim that the relief efforts have been carried out in multiple phases, with the first phase mainly focusing on immediate necessities. Ready-to-eat food packets and water bottles are being distributed to people. These packets reportedly contain items such as biscuits, jaggery, poha, puffed rice, bread, cheese, and jam.

In the coming days, the relief team will also provide water purification tablets, sanitary napkins, and mosquito coils as part of the initial assistance. The main aim of distributing the relief material is to expand the scope of the initiative.

Alia Bhatt expresses concern over Assam floods

Another big name from Bollywood, Alia Bhatt, also expressed her concern over the Assam flood tragedy. Taking to her Instagram handle, she shared a post expressing her distress over the situation.

“It happens every year, and it still catches us off guard. Assam needs immediate relief right now, and it’ll need support for the long road to recovery. If you’ve been wondering how you can help, I’ll be sharing a few ways we can support relief efforts over the next few days through organisations working on the ground,” the actress wrote.

What is the death toll in the Assam floods?

For the unversed, the initiative comes at a time when Assam is grappling with the aftermath of severe floods. As of July 28, the flood-related death toll had risen to 68, while 4,45,495 people remained affected across six districts, according to an official bulletin.
