The Sagar legacy is making its way back to the big screen, this time with a grand cinematic journey inspired by one of India’s most revered sacred texts. Sagar Pictures Entertainment has unveiled the first teaser poster of Shrimad Bhagavatam Part I: Vishnurata, offering a first glimpse into what is being planned as a seven-part theatrical saga. Serene, atmospheric and steeped in tradition, the poster features the hand of Shri Krishna in a blessing gesture, creating a quiet yet powerful introduction to the world the makers are preparing to build.
The first chapter is titled Vishnurata, which means “the one protected by Vishnu”. Drawing from the Bhagavatam Mahapurana, the film enters a vast spiritual universe centred on Lord Shri Krishna, the Supreme Divine, while exploring themes of devotion, dharma and the eternal connection between humanity and the divine. The first look appears deliberately restrained, suggesting that the makers understand the importance of approaching such a revered subject with faith, sensitivity and reverence rather than relying solely on visual grandeur.
For Sagar Pictures Entertainment, there is an unmistakable feeling of returning to its roots. The banner gave India the landmark Ramayan in 1987, a television series that became a defining cultural moment and established the Sagar name as one of the most recognisable houses for stories rooted in India’s traditions. Now, that legacy is being carried forward by a new generation. Akash Sagar Chopra and Amrit Sagar Chopra, grandsons of late filmmaker and producer Shri Ramanand Sagar, are co-directing Shrimad Bhagavatam Part One: Vishnurata, creating an interesting bridge between an iconic past and a new cinematic era.
