Former IPL commissioner Lalit Modi has been grabbing the attention after he confirmed that a biopic based on his life is in the works. The project is currently being scripted, and the makers have yet to finalise the lead actor. In a recent interview, Lalit Modi revealed that Ranveer Singh once approached him to play the role.
While speaking to ANI, Lalit Modi said, “Ranveer wants to play me and he came to see me. I would like him to play, only if he has the time as now he has become so big. I didn’t know Ranveer, I knew Deepika very well back then. I never met him. One day, I get a call saying Ranveer wants to see you. And he comes to London to see me two years ago.”
“He said in his life, if there was one role he wanted to play, it would be Lalit Modi as commissioner. It wasn’t me asking him. I think he’s great. Without doubt, he’s amazing. And what he has done with Dhurandhar is amazing,” Modi added.

In 2022, Lalit Modi broke the internet after he publicly announced his relationship with Bollywood actress Sushmita Sen. They parted ways later, but Sushmita received backlash for being with Lalit Modi. She was even called a gold digger by trolls.
However, in a recent interview, Lalit Modi revealed that he was like a ‘kept boyfriend’ in his relationship and praised the actress.
While speaking to Humans of Bombay, Lalit Modi, who is a well known business man, strongly defended Sushmita. He said, “Please understand that Sushmita is a very beautiful and very well-to-do lady. She has more diamonds than anybody I know on the planet, and she has earned them herself. She has diamond stores. So, she is a very wealthy lady. She has done it all on her own. There wasn’t a single time that I went out with Sushmita that I had to pay for anything. She paid for everything. I was like a kept boyfriend.”
Despite breaking up, Lalit Modi called her a special lady and praised her.
