Stand-up comedian Pranit More is currently in the middle of a controversy after some videos from his crowd work went viral on social media for the wrong reasons. Maharashtra Cyber has filed an FIR against him along with Himanshu Jangra, Dr Sejal Pawar and other people involved in the controversy.
Why has a FIR been registered against Pranit More?
According to ANI, IR has been registered at the Nodal Cyber Police Station under sections 75(1)(iv), 75(3), 294 and 353(2) of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023, r/w 67 Information Technology (IT) Act, 2000, against stand-up comedian Pranit, Himanshu, Dr Sejal and others. They are accused of making alleged obscene, offensive and objectionable remarks concerning women, consent and deceased persons.
Summons have also been issued to them, and they have been asked to appear before the Maharashtra Cyber to record their statements.

In one of Pranit’s shows in Gurugram, Himanshu Jangra revealed taking a woman out on a date and spending around Rs 370 on biryani. He further said that he expected intimacy in return as he paid for the meal. This conversation sparked controversy and debate about the concept of consent and the misogynistic mindset.

Himanshi Jangra’s employer, Gurugram-based Starvik Design, has terminated his employment following the backlash. Meanwhile, Dr Pawar’s employer, KEM Hospital and Medical College, has ordered an inquiry into the remarks attributed to her.
Amid the backlash, Pranit More deleted his Instagram page. Along with netizens, several popular content creators like Elvish Yadav, Kusha Kapila and Dolly Singh called out Pranit and his reactions to these statements.
