Veteran Malayalam actor Salim Kumar was cremated with state honours at his residence in North Paravur, Ernakulam, Kerala, on Sunday (June 7). The ceremony was attended by his family, political leaders, celebrities, and fans. He passed away on June 6, 2026, at a private hospital in Kochi after his health deteriorated due to pneumonia.

Who all attended Salim Kumar's funeral?

The funeral took place at Salim Kumar’s home in North Paravur. Several Malayalam film industry celebrities, including Meera Jasmine and Sandeep Pradeep, paid their final tributes. Kerala CM VD Satheesan also attended and said Salim Kumar was not just an actor but a close friend and brother to him. Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his condolences on X.

Salim Kumar passed away on Saturday, June 6, 2026, at 10:43 pm. He was 56 years old and is survived by his wife Sunitha and two sons, Chandu and Aaromal. For the unversed, Salim Kumar worked in over 300 films across more than three decades and won the National Film Award for Best Actor in 2010 for Adaminte Makan Abu.
