According to News18, Salman Khan's team issued a legal notice to casting director Akshay Pandey, demanding an immediate halt to the development and promotion of 'Kala Hiran'. The notice alleged that the movie is inspired by the actor’s blackbuck hunting case and claims that the film could harm Khan’s reputation.
The notice also stated that the Sikandar actor has not authorised or consented to any such use of his name, persona, or events allegedly connected to him.
The notice alleges that Kala Hiran will violate the actor's personality rights, privacy rights and publicity rights, and even describes it as defamatory. It demanded that the makers cease development, production and publicity activities related to the film, alongside warning of civil and criminal legal proceedings if they failed to do so within 24 hours.

Amit Jani, producer of the movie Kala Hiran, penned a note on Facebook, expressing his anger upon receiving the legal notice. He wrote in Hindi, “The intent of these notices is to instill fear so that people yield to his influence. It’s his tendency to intimidate. I, however, do not easily succumb to intimidation. He may think I’m finished. Let him know I’m very much here."
